2. On a monthly basis, the index decreased by 0.7% in January, remained unchanged in February and decreased by 1.5% in March 2009.

3. The 0.7% decrease in January was due to lower prices of sand (0.6%), block (0.6%), aggregate (3.7%), steel bars (7.6%), electrical installation (9.8%) , partly offset by higher prices of timber carpentry (8.9%), timber joinery (1.7%), metal openings (1.3%) and galvanized corrugated cast iron sheeting (1.8%).
