CONSTRUCTION PRICE INDEX
3rd Quarter 2009
Highlights

1. The Construction Price Index, which stood at 162.6 in June 2009 increased by 1.0% or 1.5 points during the 3rd quarter of 2009 to reach 164.1 in September 2009

2. On a monthly basis, the index increased by 1.0% in July and remained unchanged in August and September 2009.

3. The Materials sub index increased by 4.0%, or 0.8 points in July due to higher prices of sand (4.0%), block (4.0%), aggregate (2.9%), and metal openings (1.2%). During the same month, the prices of steel bars registered a decrease of 4.1%.

4. The “Labour” sub-index increased by 2.6% or 3.3 points following the 2009/2010 salary compensation rates in July.

5. The “Hire of Plant” and “Transport” sub-indices remained unchanged during the third quarter of 2009.
