1. Monthly index
Overall index
The PPI-A, which stood at 105.0 in March 2010, dropped to 99.1 in June 2010, following decreases of 1.3%, 4.0% and 0.4% in April, May and June respectively.
Sugar cane
The index for “Sugar cane” for the period July 2009 to June 2010 has been revised from 80.5 to 80.0 in the light of the final price of sugar for the 2009 crop. It is assumed that the same price prevails during the whole of the crop year.
Other crop products

In April 2010, the index for “Other crop products” went down by
7.5% mainly due to decreases in the prices of fresh vegetables (-10.0%) and
fruits (-18.7%).
- In May 2010, the index receded by 16.1% largely as a result of decreases
in the prices of fresh vegetables (-20.1%) and root crops (-12.9%).
- In June 2010, the index decreased by 0.8% mainly as a consequence of a drop
of 3.3% in the prices of fresh vegetables.
Animals and animal products

In April 2010, the index for “Animals and animal products” went
up by 2.0%. This was mainly due to increases in the prices of eggs (+5.2%)
and poultry (+1.1%).
- The index decreased by 0.8% in May 2010 due to a decrease of 1.1% in the
prices of poultry, partly offset by an increase in the prices of eggs (+0.3%).
- In June, decreases in the prices of poultry (-1.8%) and increases in the
prices of eggs (+2.4%) and deer (+5.2%), caused the index to go down by 0.6%.
2. Quarterly index
During the second quarter of 2010, the PPI-A decreased by 3.0% compared to the previous quarter. This was mainly due to lower prices of fresh vegetables (-17.8%), fruits (-26.3%), partially offset by increases in the prices of eggs (+7.1%), root crops (+3.9%) and flowers and ornamental plants (+6.6%).
Compared to the second quarter of 2009, the index decreased by 8.0%, mainly explained by decreases of 16.2% and 8.6% in the prices of sugar cane and fresh vegetables respectively.
3. Yearly index
In 2009, producer prices of agricultural products were on the average 3.4% lower than in 2008.
