Mission   Statement

The  mission of the Ombudsman is to serve the Mauritian community by addressing issues arising from maladministration in the public sector and redressing wrongs that may have been committed.

The Ombudsman proceeds by way of independent and impartial investigations initiated upon receipt of written complaints or acting on his own initiative.

The Ombudsman attempts to strike a fair balance between what the citizen expects from government services and the government that provides these services.

The Ombudsman's objective is to develop a public service culture characterized by fairness, dedication, commitment, openness and accountability.
