Blood donor recruitment involves education, information and motivation
techniques which lead to conversion of a non donor to voluntary
blood donor. Various techniques of motivation are used by different
countries. Basically, these involve meeting with various groups
of people, dissemination of education and information material on
blood donation, basic blood science, need and importance of blood
to human beings, etc. These can be done through formal lectures,
seminars, workshops, rallies, group discussions, etc
There
is no blood donor recruitment department at present. The recruitment
of voluntary blood donors is done presently by various socio-cultural
organisations and NGO's in the country. The Blood Transfusion Service
provides logistic support in collecting blood.
