Welcome to the website of the Civil Status Division.
Civil Registration has its roots in the 18th century. The Central Civil Status Office in Port Louis holds records as far back as 1812 while the older ones that are of interest to genealogists are kept at the National Archives in the DBM Complex, Industrial Zone, Coromandel.
In line with Government Action Plan 2001-2003 which aims for a modernized, efficient and effective Civil Service to respond to the numerous global and national challenges, a Computerized Registration System has been made operational since the 1st of November 2001 in order to offer timely and quality services.
One major innovation of the Computerized Registration System is the generation of a unique Identification Number for a child as from registration of birth.
We invite you to browse through our site and discover the range of services, which we offer you at important moments of your life.
