• Formulate and implement policies in regard to import and export of goods and services, the administration of weights and measures packing of sugar, issue of bakery licence, approval for the holding of trade fair and exhibition and the procurement of essential commodities through the State Trading Corporation. 
• Facilitate the development of the SME Sector by creating a more conducive business environment.
• The administration which includes registry, personnel and finance procurement sections which are located at the headquarters (Level 8, Air Mauritius Centre).
• Promote, consolidate, expand, diversify and modernize the SME Sector for tapping market opportunities at local, regional and international levels.
