Application Procedures

An applicant must call in person at any CWA Customer Service Center to fill in an Application Form. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs 300 for domestic water supplies and Rs 500 for non-domestic water supplies is payable at the time of application or at the time when originals of all supporting documents are presented at the CWA for applications made online. The following documents in support of application need to be produced at time of application.

Flexible conditions for applicants who cannot produce the Title deed or Rent Book have also been introduced.

The applicant may alternatively submit an application by filling in the online form and e-mailing it to onlineservises@cwa.intnet.mu or send it by post with copies of all relevant supporting documents. Originals of all supporting documents will however have to be presented at CWA at the time of payment or as and when required. Click here for instructions and application forms.

New applications are processed within one month. The minimum installation cost is Rs 1300 excluding deposit plus a minimum road re-installment fee of Rs 500 where applicable for a household connection within 7 meters of CWA main pipe. Pensioners and customers facing financial problems, and those who come from the vulnerable groups of the society may be given facilities to pay new supply fee as follows:-

  • Payment of not less than 25 percent of the installation cost before fixing the new supply.
  • The difference, is payable in 4 monthly installments, together with the current water bill.
  • The applicant will however need to present his/her Pernsioners Card to the CWA Office.
  • Such facilities will be granted to customers who will use water for domestic purposes only.

Discontinuation of Supply

All arrears on account should be cleared

Refund of Deposit

Refund of deposit will be made on production of original receipt after the Senior Meter Reader of the Section has certified that supply has been disconnected. The deposit may be used by the Authority to settle any water charges unpaid by the consumer.

Re-opening of Supply

Disconnection of supply

  • Time allowed for payment: 21 days from delivery date
  • In case of Non-payment, a surcharge of 10% is applied as from 22nd day
  • Disconnection by CWA for non-payment: after 60 days

Discontinuation of Supply

Subscriber must call at any CWA office to fill the Request Form. The following documents are required.

 

  1. The original and one photocopy of the applicant's National Identity Card
  2. Latest water bill.

Reconnection of Supply

  1. The original and one photocopy of the applicant's National Identity Card 
  2. A Water Bill
  3. Permission from owner of supply in case of tenant, title deed and arrears to be settled
  4. Adjustment of deposit if any depending on the size of meter and number of living quarters
  5. Payment of re-opening fee:
  •        Rs 500 when supply shut at Meter
  •        Rs 1300 when shut at main and a minimum road re-installment fee of Rs 500 where applicable
  1. Processing Time:
  •         24 hrs after settlement of arrears -if shut at meter
  •       A week - if shut at main


In case of tenant, a written authority from landlord to reopen the supply and a copy of title deed is required from landlord.  Also, all outstanding dues should be settled.

New Supply

  2. Title Deed (if Applicant not owner of land, Authorisation from Owner and his NIC should be produced) .
  3. Two Location Plans

An applicant has to pay also a deposit depending on the size of the meter and the number of living quarters
