The Hon Dharambeer GOKHOOL

Hon. Dharambeer Gokhool, Minister of Education & Human Resources, was born on 25 October 1949. He is married and has one son and one daughter. His residential address is 125, Avenue Osman, St Paul, Phoenix.

He possesses a B.A. (Hons), a MBA (1st class) and a MSc in Human Resources.

He joined the University of Mauritius in 1975. He was appointed as Officer-in-Charge, Faculty of Law and Management in February 1997 and as Dean, Faculty of Law and Management in December 1997. He became Associate Professor of Management in 2003.

Regarding his political agenda, Dharambeer Gokhool joined the Mauritius Labour Party in Year 2000 and served as General Secretary. He was Member of Parliament during the periods 1982 to 1983 and 1987 to 1995. He was appointed Private Parliamentary Secretary during the period 1993 to 1994. He also acted as Chairman of Mauritian Institute of Management from May 2002 up to 2005.

Dharambeer Gokhool is the Minister of Education & Human Resources since July 2005.
