List of Services

(a) Issue of work permits to expatriate workers under the Non-Citizens (Employment) Restriction Act 1973.
(b) Issue of Licence to Recruitment Agencies under the Recruitment of Workers Act 1993

--> Recruitment Licence


Any person or Agency who wishes to obtain a Recruitment Licence shall make an application to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment (Employment Division).

 

2. On obtention of the Licence, the Recruitment Agency will be authorised to recruit:-
(i) Citizens of Mauritius for employment abroad
(ii) Citizens of Mauritius for employment in Mauritius

 

3. The Licence shall be valid for a period of 2 years and may be renewed on payment of the prescribed fees. The fee payable for the issue or renewal of a licence is Rs 10,000. (This fee is subject to change)

4. A Security deposit of Rs 200,000 shall be furnished in the case of an applicant who proposes to recruit Citizens of Mauritius for employment abroad or Non-Citizens for employment in Mauritius.

5. The Licensee shall every 4 months submit to the Licensing Authority, a return in the form approved by the Licensing Authority in relation to:-
(a) Citizens of Mauritius placed in employment abroad
(b) Citizens of Mauritius placed in employment in Mauritius..

 

6. (1) Every contract of employment entered between:-
(a) an employer and a citizen of Mauritius recruited for employment abroad, or,
(b) an employer and a Non-Citizen recruited for employment in Mauritius, shall be drawn up in triplicate in English or French and shall contain the terms and conditions specified in the third schedule of the Recruitment of Workers Regulations 1994.

(2) The Licensee shall keep a copy of the Contract and give a copy to the worker and to the Licensing Authority.

Step 1

Step 2

Duly filled in applications forms must be submitted at the Reception Counter together with all required supporting documents.

Step 3

Upon payment of processing fee and submission of all necessary documents, application is processed for approval by Minister.

Step 4

Applicant/Employer is informed of any shortcoming , for example Health Clearance, which may delay the processing of the application.

Step 5

Once Minister’s approval and residence clearance obtained, a claim is sent to the applicant/employer for payment of work permit fee and submission of Bank Guarantee/Security deposit.

Step 6

Upon payment of work permit fee and submission of Bank Guarantee/Security Deposit, work permit is issued.
