To increase the production of fish through Aquaculture
Key Priorities
• To undertake research in modern aquaculture developent.
• To encourage, advise and promote aquaculture activities.
• To transfer aquaculture techniques and technology to farmers.
Objectives
• To improve aquaculture techniques and technology for the production of quality seed.
• To provide an extension service.
Freshwater Projects
• Production of juvenile of the giant fresh water prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii; and
•Production of berri rouge (Oreochromis sp) fingerlings.
Main activities
• Hatchery operation of fresh water prawn using the green water technique.
• Distribution of berri rouge juveniles for small fish farmers/backyard culture.
• Sale of berri rouge juveniles to large scale fish farmers.
• Sale of camaron juveniles to farmers.
• Provide technical information to the public on freshwater aquaculture.
• Appraisal of proposed aquaculture projects.
• Produce live feeds (Rotifer sp. & Nannochloropsis sp.)
