CLAC Project in Mauritius

NTRODUCTION

The Centre de Lecture et d’Animation Culturelle (CLAC) project of ACCT started after a study effected in 1992. A network of 15 Centres in the rural regions of Mauritius and Rodrigues was programmed under responsibility of the Ministry of Arts & Culture.CLAC comprises a library with books and other materials for children and adults. Educational and leisure games and computer facilities are available. Cultural and literary activities are held regularly. The project is in 2 phases. Phase I: 10 CLAC. Phase II: 5 CLAC.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

(1) To provide books and other sources of information to people residing in rural areas.

(2) To provide facilities for the development of the rural community in the field of education,health,technology,literature etc.

(3) To promote local cultural values through cultural and literary activities.

  • Ministry of Education and Scientific Research

  • Ministry for Rodrigues
