The celebration of the marriage of non-citizens is governed by Article 24A of the Civil Status Act (1981). The assistance of a funeral home in the country where the death occurred could be sought to obtain the following supporting documents: i) Death Certificate ii) Passport of Deceased iii) Non-epidemic/Infections Certificate iv) Burial order from the country in which the death has occurred v) Flight details vi) Embalming certificate vii) Clearance from Health Department of the country in which the death has occurred. The family of the deceased is required to give its consent to the repatriation and also meet all requirements vis-à-vis the funeral home for the repatriation expenses. The above documents should then be forwarded to the nearest Mauritius High Commission, Embassy or Consulate in order to obtain the necessary clearance from the Ministry of Health of Mauritius.
