TRAINING UNIT

The Training Unit is concerned with manpower development; identification of training needs in the health sector; curriculum development; in-service training and continuing education of health personnel,planning, organisation and conduct of courses, seminars and workshops which may be national or international. This unit is also involved in the production and dissemination of teaching/learning materials and course outlines.

POSTGRADUATE COURSES

 

Courses targeted to selected Medical Officers and aimed at specialisation in a medical field, organised by the MIH in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life with the academic support of University Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2  for the obtention  of the ‘Diplôme d’Université (D.U), which would entitle  the holder to complete his/her studies in a teaching institution in France and sit for the ‘Diplôme de formation Médicale Spécialisée (DFMS)’ examinations in the following disciplines:-

  • Anaesthesia
  • Internal Medicine
  • Ophthalmology

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

 

These programmes are meant to keep health professionals abreast of latest developments and advances in health care technologies.   The subjects addressed included family planning guidelines, contraceptive technologies, HIV/AIDS, Rapid responses to epidemics outbreaks, orientation courses to newly recruited medical officers by the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life.
