The MQA organised a Workshop on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for Facilitators on 16 to 18 February 2009 at Domaine Les Pailles with a view to training RPL Facilitators in the field of Plumbing and Construction.
The MQA Staff Welfare Association organised on 11 March 2009 a flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the 41 st independence anniversary and the 17 th anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius.
The MQA organised a Dental Hygiene Campaign on Saturday 14 March 2009 at the Case Noyale Social Welfare Centre in collaboration with the Dental Unit of the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life as well as with Childhope, a non-governmental organisation.
A talk on dental hygiene was carried out by an official from the aforesaid Ministry and a dental screening of 50 children aged 3 to 5 years old from the nearby region by dentists in the mobile dental trailor from the Ministry was effected. A dental hygiene pack comprising toothbrush, toothpaste and soap was offered to each child.
The MQA organised a Workshop on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for Assessors on 30, 31 March and 01 April 2009 at Domaine Les Pailles with a view to training RPL Assessors in the field of Construction, Plumbing and Adult Literacy.
The MQA participated in the Rotary International Careers Guidance and Education Fair 2009 organized by the Rotary Club of Grand Bay in collaboration with of the Ministry of Education and Human resources which was held from the 21 st to 23 rd May 2009 at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre, Pailles.
The MQA in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) organised a Conference on National Qualifications Framework (NQF) on Thursday 04 June 2009 at Domaine Les Pailles with view to sensitising the population about its importance in the Mauritian economy. On the same occasion, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) was officially launched in four sectors of the economy namely Tourism, Construction, Plumbing and Printing.
The MQA received a delegation of 12 people from various African countries designated by the Commonwealth of Learning in the context on an International Conference on RPL from 03 to 05 June 2009. The delegates also effected a tour visit to some institutions which are involved in the RPL process.
The MQA in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) organised a training programme on Linux for IT Managers meant to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants in the administration of Linux systems. The training was held at SITEC, Sir Rampersad Neerunjun Complex, Réduit and was conducted from 01 to 12 June 2009.
The staff of MQA together with staff of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Human resources, IVTB and HRDC participated in a musical animation organised in the context of the Music Day held on 19 June 2009 in the IVTB Lecture Theatre.

The MQA has signed two Memoranda of Technical Cooperation and Partnership (MTCP) respectively with the Namibia Qualifications Authority and the Botswana Training Authority on 17 May 2007 with a view to adopting international best practices in the training system. The signing of the MTCP was undertaken in the presence of the Honourable Minister of Education and Human Resources, Mr Dharambeer Ghokool.
The MQA organised a two-day workshop on 17 & 18 May 2007 in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) with a view to sensitizing its major stakeholders on the RPL concept.

The MQA in collaboration with Académie de la Réunion organised a two-day Workshop on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) on 26 & 27 September 2007 at Domaine Les Pailles with a view to training facilitators in the context of the implementation of the RPL project. Two experts in “Validation des Acquis d’Expériences” (VAE) from Académie de la Réunion namely Mr Jacques Ballivet and Mrs Marie-Christine Bosc were the resource persons to conduct the training.
Study Tour by Members of the Seychelles Qualifications Authority
Two members of the staff of Seychelles Qualifications Authority (SQA) namely Ms Hilda Julie and Mr Danic Ostiguy were on a study tour in Mauritiusfrom 25 to 28 September 2007 and attended a two-day Workshop on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the context of training of facilitators for the implementation of the RPL project.
Resource persons from various countries namely Singapore, South Africa, Namibia and Australia provided deeper insights into the subject and reiterated that the concept of the RPL is to translate prior learning and experience into a qualification, thereby allowing more people to acquire a duly recognised qualification.
