What is Computer Crime or Cyber crime?

A simple definition of Computer Crime is where a computer is the target of a crime or is the means used to commit a crime

   
If you are receiving a message or phone call:
which is grossly offensive, or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character or
which is causing you annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety or
which is of a nature likely to endanger or compromise State.
   
Report such case as soon as possible to the Police.
Do not turn off the Mobile phone until examined by the Police.
Do not delete or modify incriminating SMS.
Prevent overwriting or deleting of Calls log.
Do not change the SIM card.
Always keep the Mobile phone well charged.
Avoid changing the date and time of the Mobile phone.

How to Report a Computer Misuse or Cyber Crime case?

Computer misuse and Cyber crime, like any other crime, should be reported to the relevant local Police station, which in turn will contact the Police IT Unit, PHQ.

 
Some preliminary measures to be taken by victims with computers involved in Computer Misuse or Cyber Crime case.
 
Report such cases as soon as possible to the nearest Police Station.  
At all times, try to maintain (i.e) the integrity of the evidence. Never try to interfere with the computer (s) involved by you or anybody else.    
Protect the crime scene- Secure the area where the victim computer or computers is/are until Police intervention- All physical access should be controlled.  
Preserving temporary and fragile evidence- Don’t turn off the system. Volatile data may be lost.
Do not interfere in any way with the system.  
Do not run any program or open files to examine them. You could inadvertently overwrite evidentiary data and modify the date/time stamp.  
Disconnect the system from the network to prevent outside interference.
