Services

Adjacent to normal police duties, the IT Unit provides a wide range of specialized services in line with IT developments and projects identified for the Mauritius Police Force.

ICT Releted Crime

ICT-related offences are investigated by the IT Unit since its creation.
The officers of the Cyber Cell:
 
  • provide advice and technical assistance to Enquiry bodies, investigate in and collect digital evidence, examine exhibits involved in computer misuse and cyber crime offences.
  • assist enquiring officers in the arrest of suspects and interview of witnesses and interrogation of suspects involved in ICT related crimes.
  • initially visit ICT-related Scene of Crimes and examine exhibits when and where required.
  • The Cyber Cell is also involved in the tracking of criminals using mobile phones for criminal activities.
  • Assist (Central Investigation Division) CID personnel in the identification of suspects in photographs and videos.
  • Provide support to (Anti Piracy Unit) APU for identification of pirated software.
