The Mauritius Police Force is treading on a path predetermined by its Mission Statement to be a dynamic organization with much emphasis on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

With this vision, the Commissioner of Police has set up a POLICE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT in year 2000, which is responsible for all computerization activities of the Force and to head a team of specialized officers to tackle ICT-related crimes which no doubt is becoming a new field in criminology.
