The Mauritius Police Force, which has the crucial function of preserving this peaceful social fabric that constitutes the Mauritian society is fully conscious of its responsibilities with regard to the growing number of tourists visiting our island annually. In this context this unit has been set on 29 September 2003.
Aim Ensure more protection and safety to visitors.
Activate investigations in which tourists are victims.
Inform them of the evolution and outcome of investigations. The mere presence of the officers of the Police du Tourisme on the ground will:- Reassures.
Puts in confidence.
Acts as a deterrent so that nobody comes to spoil this reputation that Mauritius acquired which is to ensure that its visitors do enjoy their holidays in full safety. Objectives To ensure increased presence near hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and other places of interests.
To carry out patrols.
To respond to requests for assistance coming from tourists directly or through the Police Information Room. The Unit will work in close cooperation with tourist operators in particular:- • The Ministry of Tourism
• The AHRIM
• Hotel Managers
• Travel Agents & Tour Operators
