| Radiation Protection Act 2003 The Radiation Protection Act (Act No. 46 of 2003) was proclaimed on 11 September 2006. The Act makes provisions for the protection of the people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionising radiation and also establishes the Radiation Protection Authority as an independent regulatory body to regulate all practices involving sources of ionising radiation. Click here to download a copy of the Radiation Protection Act 2003 Radiation Protection (Registration of Radiation Sources and Facilities) Regulations 2009 The Radiation Protection (Registration of Radiation Sources and Facilities) Regulations 2009 came into force on 16 November 2009. In accordance with these regulations, all owners of sealed sources, radiation generators and radiation facilities should apply for the registration of their sources and facilities within 30 days of the date of acquisition of their sources or the date on which the facility becomes operational. Radiation Protection (Permit Fees for the Importation of Sources) Regulations 2011 The Radiation Protection (Permit Fees for the Importation of Sources) Regulations 2011 came into force on 1 April 2011.
