Medical Unit /Medical Tribunal

The Medical Unit functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Security, National Solidarity, Senior Citizen Welfare and Reform Institutions and is governed by the provisions of the National Pensions Act.

The Medical Unit and Medical Tribunal operate with an Administrative staff of 30 Officers.  It also make use of the services of 35 general practitioners employed on a part-time sessional basis, and, 45 specialists in different fields who work on a part-time basis usually outside normal working hours.

The main sections of the Medical Unit are:-

1. Medical Board

2. Medical Tribunal

3. Appeal Tribunal

4. Eldercare Department

Over and above the attributions of its different sections, it provides a series of medico-social services which have been introduced recently.
