The Tea Board was established by the Tea Industry Control Act 1975 to replace the Tea Control Board, itself established under Ordinance 29 of 1959, which by proclamation, came into force in February 1960.
Objects of the Board
To promote and encourage co-operation, education, research and development in relation to the production and marketing of tea.
To regulate and control the activities of the tea industry
To arbitrate disputes between persons engaged in or connected with the tea industry and
To assist a tea planter to diversify to other agricultural activities.
