FREIGHT REBATE SCHEME                        Last Update:   November 04, 2008

The main objective of the FRS is to provide assistance to exporters of horticultural produce by refunding them partly the freight costs or FOB value, whichever is the lower.

The FRS has now been extended to cater also for minimally processed fresh/dried horticultural products and to include new long haul destinations (previously, FRS was restricted only to products exported to Europe) as follows:

  • all processed products, that is those that are peeled, sliced and packed before export will benefit from 50 % freight refund;
  • all unprocessed fresh products will enjoy 25 % freight refund with the exception of green chilies which would continue to benefit from 50 % freight refund;
  • the present rate of refund will be calculated based on net weight

Exporters who wish to claim for refund under the FRS should fill in the necessary forms (available on request at the AMB or can be downloaded ) with all relevant documents attached and submit same to the AMB within one month of export.

Original documents to be enclosed with the claim form:

  • Invoice
  • Packing list
  • Airway bill
  • Memorandum from the Airport
  • Export permit
  • Bill of entry for export
  • EUR.1/G.S.P certificate (wherever applicable)
  • Certificate of origin
  • Phytosanitary certificate (wherever applicable)
  • Original bank advice/statement
