Overview
The Moka Cold Store deals with the storage, import, export and sale of a number of commodities declared as "Controlled Products" by law. Currently, these products are potato, seed potato, onions, garlic, cardamom, turmeric finger, turmeric powder. Pasteurised milk, peeled canned tomatoes, onion seeds, bean seeds. Leno bags and glass jars are also sold at Moka Cold Store.
Renovation
To be in line with the principle of the Kyoto agreement to which Mauritius has subscribed, the Agricultural Marketing Board has replaced all its refrigeration equipment which was running with R12 - a gas classified as non-ozone friendly with one acceptable and non degradable to the environment.
Storage Capacity (8400 tonnes)
Onion : 2000 tonnes
Potato : 5000 tonnes
Garlic : 200 tonnes
Seed : 1200 tonnes
Rental charges
AMB rents storage facilities to private operators on a regular basis at the following rate:
