The Competition Commission of Mauritius (CCM)
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Procurement
Policy Office (PPO) today 24th August 2011. This MoUis the
fifth MoU signed by the CCM, after the ICAC, ICTA, Ministry
of Renewable Energies and Public Utilities, and the Bank of
Mauritius. The MoU was signed by Dr. Sean Ennis, Executive
Director for the CCM, and Mr Premcoomar Beehary, Director
for the PPO, at the office of the PPO.
The MoU intends to promote co-operation between the CCM and
the PPO when dealing with cases of bid rigging, where they
have overlapping powers. It will facilitate the treatment
of bid rigging cases in public procurement, through sharing
of information relevant to the exercise of the respective
functions of both the CCM and the PPO. Additionally, the MoU
makes provision for the sharing of expertise between the two
entities.
