Red Hat Update for Kernel

Red Hat has issued an update for Kernel and this update addresses several weaknesses and vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities can allow remote attackers to gain knowledge about sensitive information, cause denial of service conditions and gain escalated privileges on the target user system. The update also fixes vulnerabilities such as:

  • A NULL pointer dereference error in the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) implementation and this can be exploited to cause a denial of service condition.
  • An error within the SAHF instruction which can be exploited by privileged users in a guest system to crash the host system.
