According to the predictions of the security vendor, M86, mobile malware will emerge as a major threat and targeted attacks on mobile devices will become more often and complex. Security researchers have also indicated that the rise of malware on mobile devices can prove to be detrimental to businesses. The adoption of a ‘Bring-Your-Own-Device' approach by organisations and the use of unsecured mobile devices make businesses more exposed to mobile malware. In addition, M86 has also discovered that main sporting events are likely to attract cyber criminals. M86 2012 Security Threat Report has indicated that London Olympics 2012 will be a potential “hotbed” for cybercrime. Such sporting events catch the attention of many people who are keen to know what is happening and thus, cybercriminals do not miss a chance to conduct attacks.
