The hacktivist group Anonymous claims to have stolen thousands of credit card details and other personal information belonging to the clients of US security intelligence firm Stratfor. The hackers stated that they were able to gain access to the information because it was not encrypted. Stratfor specializes in strategic intelligence on global business, economic, security and geopolitical affairs. The clients of Stratfor include the US defense department, law enforcement agencies and media organisations. In an online message, a member of Anonymous confirmed that the group had used the clients credit card details to make “over a million dollars” in donations to different charities. Following this attack, Stratfor has suspended the operations on its servers and email.
