United Parcel Service of America (UPS) Phishing Email

 

It has been reported that a phishing email of the United Parcel Service of America (UPS) is circulating, announced on the website of Naked Security Sophos. The email seems to originated from an account that appears to be UPS Communication” and has subject of ‘Important Update'. An example of the email is shown below:

In this email, users are requested to click on the link: ‘MY UPS' to update their account. Upon clicking on the link, users will be taken to a compromised website in Seychelles. According to Sophos, cyber attackers have exploited a vulnerability in Joomla CMS installed on the host. Users of Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari are protected through the Google Safe browsing service since these browsers detect this page as a phishing one.

CERT-MU strongly advises users not to click on the link if they have received this email.
