IT Security firm, McAfee claims to have uncovered one of the largest ever series of cyber attacks, as stated on the website of ‘ BBC News' . About 72 organisations, including the United States Government, the United Nations, the International Olympic Committee and security firms have been hacked over the past five years.
Named as ‘Operation Shady RAT' by McAfee, the operation consisted of five years investigations and examination of information from a number of different organisations which the Internet security firm thought may have been hit. By tracing the malware and gaining access to the “command and control” computer server used by the hackers, McAfee indentified 72 compromised companies and organisations from different countries.
