Welcome to Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is an international event organised by Insafe in February each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

This year the theme for the Safer Internet Day is: Connecting Generations and educating each other – Discover the Internet together, safely ! and the focus is on sensitising Internet users of all generations irrespective of their age, culture and communities and therefore, encouraging families to work together and stay safe in the online world.
On this occasion, CERT-MU, a division of the National Computer Board is organising several activities to promote secure use of the Internet amongst youngsters, who are strongly connected to their friends, teachers and families in both offline and online world. The activities are as follows:

ACTIVITIES

A half day workshop with theme “Connecting generations and educating each other” in collaboration with the IT Security Unit, Ministry of Information Communication and Telecommunication, Ministry of Education and Human Resources , Secure Services Mauritius Ltd. and Microsoft at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, Moka.

The proposed workshop is targeted towards State and Private secondary school rectors and ICT teachers to sensitise them on the impact of the threats and the consequences that improper use of the internet may have on the youth. Presentations will be carried out by high profile speakers.

Awareness sessions to be carried out by NCB for State and Private secondary school teachers according to respective zones in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources during the months of February 2012 onwards.
