About ICAC

Corruption Prevention & Education Division

The Corruption Prevention and Education Division (CPED) is headed by a Director appointed by the Commission, after consultation with the Prime Minister. The Division has two operational branches namely: the Systems Enhancement Branch and the Community Relations Branch. Each Branch is under the responsibility of an Assistant Director.

Systems Enhancement Branch

This branch examines the practices and procedures of public bodies and makes recommendations on how corruption opportunities can be eliminated or reduced. This is done by way of assignments which critically review specific work areas in the public sector. The branch also advises public and private sector organizations, on request, on ways and means to prevent corruption.

Community Relations Branch

This branch has the duty to educate the community about the dangers of corruption and to develop and retain the support of the public in the fight against corruption. The ultimate objective is two folds:

  • make the population at large aware of the dangers of corruption, encourage them to develop intolerance towards it and prompt willingness to fight against it; and
  • raise public awareness of corruption issues, increase public intolerance of corruption and persuade the public to report acts of corruption.
