News & Press Releases ******************************************************************************************************* Anti-Corruption Fresco Competition 2011 To make youth commitment visible and give a boost to the nine ICAC regional youth clusters, the ICAC is launching an Anti-Corruption Fresco Competition involving some young persons throughout the island. The competition has been conceived particularly to inspire creative thinking, discover new talents and trigger reflection on the central theme: “Youth Against Corruption”. ******************************************************************************************************* ICAC Inter Integrity Club Artistic Competition 2011 The ICAC is launching an Inter Integrity Club Artistic Competition for all Integrity clubs set up in secondary schools in Mauritius. ******************************************************************************************************* En marge de la Journée Internationale Anti-corruption (9 décembre) Vers une culture zéro tolérance L’objectif primaire de toute la campagne d’éducation menée par l’ICAC, Read more ******************************************************************************************************* Pot-de-vin : neuf mois d’emprisonnement converti en 150 heures de travaux communautaires Deux opérateurs de tracteurs de la Sugar Planters’ Mechanical Pool Corporation (SPMPC), Yudistir Dookhit et Oograssen Seetul ont écopé chacun d’une peine d’emprisonnement de neuf mois converti en 150 heures de travaux communautaires. Accusés d’avoir pris des pots-de-vin sous la section 4 (1) (a) et (2) du Prevention of Corruption Act 2002, les deux ont plaidé coupables en Cour Criminelle Intermédiaire. Compte tenu de leur passé propre et leurs remords exprimés en cour, la magistrate R. Seetohul-Toolsee a converti la peine de neuf mois d’emprisonnement en émettant un Community Service Order à leur égard. Ainsi, ils seront affectés au Shri Krishna Balram Mandir pendant 150 heures chacun. Ils devront aussi se présenter chaque quinzaine au Flacq Probation Office pour des conseils. Les faits Yudistir Dookhit et Oograssen Seetul, tous deux opérateurs de tracteur de la Sugar Planters’ Mechanical Pool Corporation, avaient sollicité, en novembre 2004, une somme d’argent comme pot-de-vin pour effectuer des travaux dans les champs d’une personne. Ils ont empoché cet argent au préjudice de la SPMPC. ****************************************************************************************************** L’affaire Chady/Philippe : l’enquête évolue Des éléments d’information ont été communiqués à l’ICAC par les autorités appropriées de la Hollande, de l’Angleterre et de Singapour concernant l’enquête sur les allégations contre le Dr. Siddick Chady et Gilbert Philippe, relativement à l’affaire Boskalis. Les demandes pour des renseignements afin d’approfondir l’enquête avaient été faites aux autorités respectives de ces trois pays par le truchement de l’Attorney General’s Office dans le cadre du Mutual Legal Assistance Act an août 2008. Les autorités concernées ont demandé de plus amples renseignements afin de préciser leur marche à suivre. D’autres développements sont à prévoir. ******************************************************************************************************
