The National Computer Board ICT Incubator centre at Infotech 2008
INFOTECH is the major annual Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event organised in Mauritius by the National Computer Board (NCB). The ICT Incubator Centre of the National Computer Board and one of the Start up was present at Infotech 2008, which was held from the 7 th to 10 th August 2008 at Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre, Pailles.
The Infotech 2008 exhibition comprised of 81 stands which were booked by some 62 exhibitors, including 21 foreign exhibitors.
Infotech 2008 Conference welcomed participants not only from the Indian Ocean region, but also from Africa, Asia, Europe, Canada and the USA. Around 275 people attended the Conference, including 60 foreign delegates from some 15 countries. Members of SADC, COMESA, IOC and IOR also participated in the conference.
One other innovation at Infotech this year was the Call Centre Demo, which was hosted in a dedicated space and consisted of live demonstration of call centre operations during the 4 days of Infotech 2008. Over 60,000 people visited Infotech this year; this was a good opportunity for the Start up and the Incubator Centre to participate.
The main objectives of the ICT Incubator Centre being present were:
- To make members of the public aware of the existence of the ICT Incubator centre.
- To showcase the services and facilities offered at the ICT Incubator centre.
- To promote business development and creation of start-ups in the ICT sector.
- To promote Entrepreneurship development
One of the Start up of the ICT Incubator Centre Above Security Ltd was also present for Infotech 2008. Being a start up of the Incubator Centre, a free stand was offered to the Company.
It was an opportunity for Above Security Ltd to:
- Market its products and services.
- Develop networking.
- Create contacts
