Launching of the ICT Business Pre-Incubator Cell
The NCB and UTM have in 2008 signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing amongst others on a partnership to promote entrepreneurship on the University campus. The ICT Business Pre-Incubator Cell will allow students and staff with a project idea to develop competencies as future business leaders on campus. They can afterwards move to the NCB ICT Incubator Centre to set up their own business and eventually graduate from there when the business has expanded sufficiently.
Objectives
The ICT Business Pre-Incubator Cell aims at:
- Promoting the culture of entrepreneurship on the campus by providing students and faculty members with the necessary knowledge and skills for the launching of their own business in the ICT sector.
- Developing their competences as future business leaders.
- Promoting the commercialization of university based research and development.
The ICT Business Pre-Incubator Cell was launched by Honourable Asraf Dulull, Minister of Information and Communication Technology in the presence of Mr S. K Babooa, the Registrar of UTM; Mr Dharmanand Fokeer, Director General of UTM; Mr Dan Faugoo, Executive Director of NCB; Mr Suraj Ramgolam, Chairman of NCB; Dr. Nawaz Mohamudally, Head of School, UTM and eminent guests and students. Some more than 150 people were present for the launching ceremony.
Mr. Danilo Pavaday, Diploma in Graphics Design, School of Innovative Technologies and Engineering (SITE), UTM showcased from ‘Why Not’.
The Commemorative plaque of the ICT Business Pre- Incubator Cell was unveiled by Hon. A. Dulull, Minister of Information and Communication Technology on first floor, SITE, University of Technology, Mauritius, La Tour Koenig, Pointe aux Sables.
