The Internet Safer Day or Safer Internet Day is a fundamental event celebrated throughout the world, every February. This year, the global Internet Safer Day event will be held on 10th February 2009 and the two themes that will be enhanced for Year 2009 are Cyberbullying and Social Networking.

In Mauritius, the Child Safety Online Action Plan has been endorsed by Government on the 30th January 2009. In this context, the Internet Safer Day will be a first step for the Government to create and explore the Internet threats confronted by children and young people when surfing the Internet.

Global themes like Cyberbullying and Social Networking are major components that will need to be explored during the Internet Safer day as well as other crucial threats like online grooming, Internet addiction, and dangers of chatting and so on.
