As at 28 February 2014, MBGS has received a total of 995 applications. So far 219 90-10 schemes and 34 Start-Ups Entrepreneurship Schemes (SES) for a total value of about Rs 245 million have already been approved. The rest is currently being assessed, or where required, further mentoring is being provided prior to finalisation of the growth scheme.

The large majority of beneficiaries are SMEs (turnover of less than Rs50 million), of which nearly 47% recorded an annual turnover of less than Rs10 million last year.

Mr. Henri Stetter, Advisor to the Ministry of Business, Enterprises and Cooperatives and International Enterprise Consultant at MBGS has recently been in Mauritius. He came with a team from USAID and they visited several MBGS beneficiaries. The aim of this visit was to focus on how to implement the MBGS model in other countries. More on our website!!!

Welcome to our site!

The Mauritius Business Growth Scheme (MBGS) Unit was set up by the Government of Mauritius in collaboration with the World Bank and became fully operational in March 2011. The overarching objective of MBGS is to facilitate the maximum possible growth in private sector economic activity by supporting enterprise productivity and competitiveness, specifically in areas of skills and training, technology upgrading, innovation, quality standards and business development.

MBGS offers two exciting financial schemes to Mauritian private sector companies, which can be existing, well established businesses, or innovative start-ups. Our small but dynamic team of advisors is also available as and when required to provide mentoring services to interested parties free-of-charge.
