Brilliance in Mauritius Awards
The third edition of the Brilliance in Mauritius
Awards ceremony is being organised on Thursday 3 September 2009 to
celebrate the achievement of those students who have come out top in the world
and top in Mauritius in the November 2008 examination session.
For O-Level, 18 students have come top in the world
in 9 subjects, namely:
Geography, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Design
and Technology, Food and Nutrition, Principles of Accounts, Business Studies,
Chemistry and Biology.
3 students have come top in the world at AS Level in:
Biology, Computing and Mathematics
9 students have come top in the world at A level in:
Economics, Chemistry, Islamic Studies, Computing,
Sociology, Physics, Design and Technology, Accounting and Physics.
Cambridge International O, AS and A Levels are
renowned the world over for being challenging examinations; students who gain
top grades can be justifiably proud of their achievements and be confident that
good grades will be welcomed by some of the most prestigious universities and
employers around the world.
Students will be presented with the Cambridge Top in
the World Award where they have achieved the highest mark in the world at
Cambridge International Examinations O-Level and A-Level examinations in any
subject. These examinations are sat
internationally which means that Mauritian candidates compete with students
from over 50 other countries from around the world, from all continents and all
corners of the globe. Cambridge
International SC O Levels and HSC AS and A Levels are set as far north as
Scandinavia and as far south as Australia, New Zealand and the tip of South
America
CIE is the
world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14-19 year
olds. CIE offers a broad of
qualifications, created for an international audience. This includes school-based qualifications
and vocational assessments in areas such as IT, business, management and
professional development for teachers.
CIE qualifications are taken in 150 countries and recognised by
universities, educational providers and employers around the world.
