CIE Training Workshops for Educators of AS/A Level Accounting (9706) and Hinduism 9014 - July 2009

1. As part of the joint CIE/MES professional development programme for the year 2009, the MES is organising training workshops for teachers of Accounting (9706) and Hinduism (9014) as follows:

2. The aim of this programme is to provide training for the professional development of teachers to improve teaching and learning and performance in the examinations. In April 2009, the training workshops were conducted for SC/O Level Business Studies 7115 and Paper 2 of the Design and Textiles 9631.

3. The specific objectives are:

· Emphasise key points in the syllabus

· Highlight teaching strategies and methods to improve performance

· Using assessment to improve results

· Using ICT as a teaching-learning resource

· Discuss examination papers, marking schemes and examiners’ expectations and standards based on marking activities
