Education and Public Awareness

The NPCS carried out Education and Public awareness activities to sensitize the school community and the public at large on the value of biodiversity and their protection so that people can understand these important issues. These include talks, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, seminars and publications.

Mr V. D. Mudhoo (Technical Officer) and Ms N. Gukhool (Technical Officer), under the supervision of Mr. M. Puttoo, Senior Research & Development Officer (Wildlife)

Posters and pamphlets are freely distributed to schools, colleges, local and foreign visitors so as to increase awareness about our native heritage.

Any request for talks shall be sent to the Director of National Parks & Conservation Service and are organized after consultation with the requesting body/institution and key officers of the Public Awareness and Education section.

Moreover, the NPCS has engaged itself to sensitize school students about our national heritage. In this context, endemic gardens have been created in the following institutions:

Dunpath Lallah SSS
Le Bocage Primary School
Mahatma Gandhi Institute SSS

NPCS also provides technical advice on conservation-related activities.
