Briefing sessions (NWEC/Uniconsult/SEHDA/Lions Club)

Lions Club
On invitation of the Lions Club, Quatre Bornes, Mr Hannalas, Director, Medium & Small Taxpayer Department (MSTD) gave a presentation on Taxation. Topics covered were PAYE, Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and National Residential Property Tax (NRPT). The session was held on 14 July 2009 at 19 hours at St Esprit College. Some thirty members of the Lions Club attended the session. It was interactive and many questions on taxation arose and were answered. Participants appreciated the initiatives of the MRA to educate taxpayers on tax issues.

National Woman Entrepreneur Council
Some 40 women entrepreneurs attended an educational session on Income Tax and VAT on 15 July 2009 at Mare D’Albert Social Welfare Centre. They were given the necessary information for the submission of Income Tax returns and VAT registration. Mr Tacouri, Team Leader and Mr Sungker, Technical Officer, both of Medium and Small Taxpayer Department were the resource persons.

Uniconsult

Upon request of Uniconsult, the TECD arranged for a training session which was held on 17 July 2009 at the seat of Uniconsult, Curepipe. Some 15 staff attended the session. Mr Kelly, Team Leader, Medium and Small Taxpayer Department made a presentation on Income Tax issues and answered to the questions that arose.

SEHDA

The MRA offered a two half-day training to some fifty small and medium entrepreneurs on 22 and 24 July 2009. Mr Tacouri, Team Leader and Mr Sungker, Technical Officer of the Medium and Small Taxpayer Department made an exposé of income and VAT implications on their businesses. The session was an interactive one and resource persons answered to all queries.
