Workshop II on Integrity Development

 

On the 26th and 27th of Novermber, the Mauritius Revenue Authority organized a workshop on integrity which had as theme  “Enhancing Organisational Integrity at the MRA”. Some 100 participants took part in the workshop.Eminent resource persons amongst whom Mr A.R. Maharaj, Head of Ethics and Risk Management, Independent Complaint Directorate, South Africa; Mrs Patricia Revesz, Executive officer, World Customs Organisation and S.B. Domah, Puisne Judge Supreme Court, Mauritius contributed to the success of the workshop.The Hon. Dr Ramakrishna Sithanen (GCSK)Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economis Empowerment was the chief Guest for the opening ceremony of the workshop.

Among the topics covered were:
- The foundation of organizational integrity is personal integrity
- Promotion of integrity in Revenue Administration
- Development of the integrity concept within the Mauritian legislation
- Perception of MRA integrity by its stakeholders
- Measures taken to prevent corruption/malpractice at MRA.

 

After 2006, this is the second time that the MRA is organizing such a workshop in line with its commitment to fight corruption and continuously enhancing the integrity of its personel and stakeholders

 Zambians officials on Study Tour at MRA

At the request of the Zambia Development Agency and the Board of Investment, a delegation of Zambian officials led by Mrs Lilian Kapulu, Chairperson, Finance and Administration Committee, ZDA Board visited the MRA on the Thursday 5th November 2009.

The other officials were Mr Muhabi Lungu, Director Planning and Policy and Mrs Sharon Sichilongo, Senior Planning and Policy Officer. Their visit had as objective to have a better insight of the business and investment environment in Mauritius.

Mr Sudhamo Lal, Director General, MRA welcomed the delegation and made a presentation on MRA’s Legal and Governance Framework, MRA’s Revenue, Institutional Framework and its Benefits, HR Framework and the Performance of MRA as a Revenue Authority and an organization which is implementing a Reform Programme. The salient features of the reform programme, implementation strategy and the action plan were also discussed. Last year, in July a group of parliamentarians also visited MRA on a study tour.
