The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) is nearly two years old now and although a lot has been said about its functional system, still many people have trouble figuring out what MRA is all about. Consequently, the Taxpayers Education and Communication Department (TECD) has adopted a new communication strategy whereby it invites students to visit the MRA Headquarter, located at Ehram Court in Port Louis, so as to better educate those who will become taxpayers of tomorrow. |

The month of May was a crucial one for the Taxpayer Education and Communication Department (TECD) of the MRA. At the end of the month, the TECD submitted a draft Strategy Paper for the year 2008-2009, thereby announcing the main strategies to adopt to face numerous challenges, namely: increasing voluntary compliance, encouraging whistle blowing and combating tax evasion. This document should act as a reference manual for the employees of the MRA, towards achieving the mission statement of becoming a World Class Revenue Authority. |
Environment Protection Fee
Clarifying the new regulations

The Environment Protection (Amendment of Schedule) Regulations 2008 has come into operation on the 1st of May 2008. The deadline for the registration of enterprises concerned by the payment of an Environment Protection Fee (EPF) was on the 16th of May 2008. In order to clarify these regulations, the MRA would like to point out the following facts:
