Building |
A building is an independent free standing structure, comprising one or more rooms and other spaces covered by a roof and usually enclosed within external walls or dividing walls which extend from the foundation to the roof. Toilets, bathrooms, kitchens and garages in detached structures are not counted as separate buildings |

Housing Unit |
A housing unit is a separate and independent place of abode intended for habitation by one household, or one not intended for habitation, but occupied by a household for living purposes. Although intended for one household, a house unit may be occupied by more than one household or part of a household |

Room |
A room is a space of at least 4 square meters in a housing unit, enclosed by walls reaching from the floor to the ceiling or roof covering. |

Rooms for Living purposes |
This category includes bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, studies, habitable attics and closed verandahs which are used by a household for a living purposes. Kitchens are included if they are least 4 square meters . Open verandahs, corridors, lobbies, bathrooms, toilets, stores garages not used for living purposes are not considered as rooms |

Detached room |
This is a structure, without cooking facilities, which is occupied by one or more members of a household living in another building. |

Household |
A household is either a person living on his own and making his own provision for food and other essentials for living, or a group of two or more persons, whether related or not who live together and make common provision for food and other essentials for living. Cases of persons having varying degrees of common housekeeping have been considered as one household if there is any arrangement to share at least one meal a day. Households living in housing units have been referred to as private households to distinguish them from households in communal establishments such as hotels, infirmaries, hospitals and other institutions. |
