Following government decision to adopt ISO/IEC 17799 IT Security Standards for the civil service, the E-Government Task Force requested that an Implementation Committee chaired by the NCB be set up to prepare an implementation plan.

This Committee recommended the creation of an IT Security Unit within the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications and the appointment of IT Security consultants to develop a methodology on how to implement IT Security in Government.

The NCB participated in the selection of the consultancy firm for the exercise at the end of 2002 and is presently member of the Steering Committee in charge of monitoring the “Consultancy Services for the implementation of ISO/IEC 17799 Security Standards in the Civil Service”.
