This statement is to advise the public of two bogus websites www.standardoffshorebank.com and www.standardbankgrp.org purporting to represent Standard Bank Offshore.

 

Standard Bank operates in Mauritius through Standard Bank (Mauritius) Offshore Banking Unit Ltd, licensed as a Category 2 Bank, and Standard Bank Trust Company (Mauritius) Limited, licensed as a Management Company under section 24 of the Financial Services Development Act 2001 (FSD Act).

 

The websites using the above URLs appear to have been copied from the genuine website of Standard Bank Offshore.  Standard Bank Group operates a number of websites in which they publish useful information concerning how to determine whether a website is really operated by the Group.  This information is available online at http://www.standardbank.co.za/secure/securefaq/secureFAQ.html.

 

The FSC advises all persons dealing with or intending to deal with members of the Standard Bank Group to read this information.

 

The FSC has issued this public statement by virtue of its functions under 6 (K) of the FSD Act – which refers to taking measures for the better protection of consumers of financial services.
