The NCB was established in 1988 and is a para-statal body which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications. The role of the NCB is to e-power people, businesses and the public sector by developing and promoting ICT and ICT related services in line with national goals and policies. The NCB is a key enabler in transforming Mauritius into a Cyber Island and, amongst others, advises the Government on the elaboration of national policies for the development of the ICT sector in Mauritius
