Duties:

To preside over the sittings of the Regional Assembly and the Standing Orders Committees. To be responsible for the premises of the House; to scrutinise questions set to Commissioners; to decide with the Leader of the House and the Minority Leader the order in which members shall intervene in debates, the order in which members shall speak at adjustment and generally to maintain decorum and order in the House. The Chairperson is the repository of the House's authority. The Sergeant-at-arms precedes him into the Assembly carrying the Mace, symbol of his authority.
