The “Second International Coordination
Meeting for the development of a Tsunami Warning and Mitigation
System for the Indian Ocean” is meant to:
1. Inform Indian Ocean countries on the status of the interim
advisory information system and how it satisfies the
needs of the participating
countries;
2. Share information on the progress with the development
of national tsunami warning and mitigation initiatives;
3. Inform Indian Ocean countries on the progress of the upgrading
and expansion of the sea level observing network in the
Indian Ocean;
4. Consider ways and means towards the networking of national
tsunami warning centres in a regional operational framework;
5. Seek coordination of
donors in support of the development of the warning system
and related activities at the
national level.
