- I have obtained my permit for a trade. Can I start my business?
The permit determines the feasibility of the trade on the premises. A trade license is issued after the appropriateness of the premises has been satisfied. It is specific to the operation of the trade which therefore can only be started after obtention of the same.
- I am the licensed owner of a shop. I want to expand my business and carry out more activities. What shall I do?
Trades are classified in categories of activities. If the activity that you propose to carry is within the category of your trade no additional licence is required. Any activity which is not within the category shall require the appropriate licence.
- Can I carry out more than one category of activities in my shop?
The conditions for the operation of an activity are specific to the trade. However, there are a number of trades that share the same conditions. These activities may be carried out in the same shop without or with some modifications.
- How long does it take from the filling of an application form to the obtention of a licence?
Council is the issuing authority for trade licences. However, before issue the approval of the Ministry of Health and other authorities are sought. In most cases the time frame is from four to six weeks.
- Can my application for a licence be rejected?
At an early stage of the application the approving authority will inform you of the conditions to be satisfied for the licence. Failure to satisfy the conditions may cause the reject of the licence.
